Introducing ‘FLANNEL Spotlight,’ a new Q&A series celebrating a community of creative identities across the globe. For Summer 2026 (across the Northern Hemisphere anyway), we’re shining a light on assorted cultural tastemakers and the ways in which they challenge the status quo through their work from behind-the-scenes. Fortunately for us, it’s an exercise in superb sartorial taste too as each individual is a bona fide fan of the brand, and so here we get to showcase the unique ways in which the wearer chooses to make FLANNEL their own; be it by changing the look of a design from day to night or adding layers to an outfit whilst crossing timelines. In essence, it’s an ode to one of the most vital components of our design process: embracing the art of wanderlust and going your own way. Enjoy!
You chose the Dip-Dye Cami and Skirt - why were these pieces particular favorites and can you share any details on where you’ll be wearing them over July / August?
I was initially drawn to the colors - orange is one of my favorite shades for flowers, and yet surprisingly I don't own any clothes in this color. My style is playful, varied and I always love playing with color so I think it’s safe to say I’ll be wearing this all summer.
As FLANNEL is an Australian brand, can you give us an insight into your experience / curiosity about Australia? Do you have ever work with Australian flora & fauna?
How can anyone talk about floristry without mentioning Australia? There are many talented Australian florists like London-based Fjura, for example. She’s a personal favorite of mine and I find her work really exquisite. I've always been inspired by Australian flora and often work with Golden Wattle, Banksias, Kangaroo Paws, Flannel Flowers and so many others, the varieties are amazing. What I love about my work is having to change my approach with the nature of the seasons, and since so many varieties are only available for a month or two before the seasons change, it makes it necessary for me to be in that cycle and flow.
FLANNEL's designs are hugely inspired by traveling and embracing the art of wanderlust - where are you headed on vacation this year and what are your three must-haves that you never leave home without?
I'm heading to Amagansett in New York and also to Costa Rica or France (I'm a last-minute planner so am yet to decide). I always travel with my favorite pillow (it's a must-have for me), along with an eye mask and a bathing suit. A hydrating face cream also helps to make me feel prepared.
Can you recommend us a book to read, a podcast to listen to, and an album / playlist that enhances your experience when traveling and / or working?
The last book I read and really loved was Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi. For a podcast, I always love On Being with Krista Tippet. And for music, lately I’ve been listening to a lot of Rosalia; I also really love Empress Of and Beyonce. When I’m working I always like to listen to classical music as it gets me into a work flow.
