Fashion as Living Art: Inside the Making of the Artemis Suede Vest

There are clothes that are made for convenience, you slip them on without thought. And then there are clothes that stop you, that ask you to pause, to notice and to feel.

The Artemis Vest is one of those rare harmonious creations. A garment, yes, but also a story, a sculpture, and a piece of art you can wear.

The Art of Making

This vest begins not on a machine, but in the hands of artisans. Strips of suede are cut, plaited and woven one by one, forming a fabric that carries hours of devotion. Each movement is deliberate, each detail an act of patience and precision.

The process is slow, because it has to be. Handcraft cannot be rushed, it demands time, care and a collective of skilled makers. Behind every vest lies a small circle of artisans, family and community, working together in FLANNEL's own boutique production house in Indonesia. It is a place where tradition and modern design meet, where every stitch is guided by human touch rather than machinery.

This is why only 20 vests were made. Not for the sake of exclusivity, but as a reflection of the natural rhythm of true craftsmanship. Each piece is a testament to time, to the maker's hands, to enduring artistry.

Movement and Presence

What sets the Artemis Vest apart is its ability to move. Long, hand-cut fringing cascades from its edges, swaying like liquid sculpture with every step. It doesn’t just sit on the body, it becomes part of your presence, catching air and light in ways that feel alive.

A Dialogue with the Past

Inspired by the retro suede vests of the 1970s, this piece carries the spirit of freedom and effortless cool. But FLANNEL’s version pushes the idea further. Its woven body, elongated lines, and fluid fringe transform nostalgia into something timeless, something modern, something made to endure.

Strength and Beauty

Made from 100% suede, the vest is as strong as it is beautiful. Suede is a material that softens with age without losing its resilience, developing character as it is worn. This vest is designed not only to turn heads today, but to last for years. A piece to be lived in, loved, and passed on.

More than Clothing

The Artemis Vest is not just another addition to a wardrobe. It is a work of art, crafted slowly, thoughtfully, and with immense care. It is the product of many hands, many hours, and a shared belief that clothing can have immense meaning.

To wear this vest is to carry a story, of artisanship, of community, of movement, of art. This is not simply a vest. It is an experience. It is clothing with a soul. And once you put it on, you will never see garments the same way again.
