Introducing ‘FLANNEL Spotlight,’ a new Q&A series celebrating a community of creative identities across the globe. For Summer 2026 (across the Northern Hemisphere anyway), we’re shining a light on assorted cultural tastemakers and the ways in which they challenge the status quo through their work from behind-the-scenes. Fortunately for us, it’s an exercise in superb sartorial taste too as each individual is a bona fide fan of the brand, and so here we get to showcase the unique ways in which the wearer chooses to make FLANNEL their own; be it by changing the look of a design from day to night or adding layers to an outfit whilst crossing timelines. In essence, it’s an ode to one of the most vital components of our design process: embracing the art of wanderlust and going your own way. Enjoy!
You chose the Essential Bias Silk Slip, why was this piece in particular your immediate favorite?
This one was a no-brainer for me as I love nothing more than a Bias Cut Slip Dress, and this one is so versatile and flattering, especially in that cinnamon color (the perfect match for my new Sicilian tan).
Any stories / details on where you’ve worn it and / or what you’re teaming with it?
I’ve just been in Europe leading yoga retreats (and vacationing in between), so I wore the dress in Provence, France, where we hosted a fabulous group dinner and I wore it again in Sicily a week later and a wine tasting in a fabulous villa.
Can you give us an insight into your experience / curiosity about Australia?
I consider myself well-travelled but I've never been to Australia! I’d so much love to explore everywhere in that country, especially all of the beaches. We have it pretty good in California but I’d love to spend a month by the water in Australia, hosting retreats and then traveling and trying pilates and yoga at different studios, just to really immerse myself in that side of the culture.
FLANNEL's designs are hugely inspired by traveling and embracing the art of wanderlus — where are you headed on vacation / retreat this year and what are your three must-haves that you never leave home without?
My summer schedule so far covered Paris, Provence (for retreat), Marseille, Rome, Sicily (for retreat) and then home to LA. Later in the Summer, I'll return to Italy for another of my retreats in Piedmont. We're flying to Rome and then taking the train to Florence, picking up our rental car and taking a few days to explore the Ligurian coast. I haven't spent much time in this area, so I’m excited to explore. My must-have three items that I never leave home without include: a refreshing spritz from May Lindstrom Jasmine Garden, an elixir with Manuka immune elixir, and my very own KMY (Kyle Miller Yoga, merchandise) baseball hat.
